Both the Armada and the QX80 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, available all wheel drive and around view monitors.

There are over 5 times as many Nissan dealers as there are Infiniti dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Armada’s warranty.

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the Armada’s reliability 15 points higher than the QX80.

The Armada’s 3.5 turbo V6 produces 25 more horsepower (425 vs. 400) and 103 lbs.-ft. more torque (516 vs. 413) than the QX80’s 5.6 DOHC V8.

In heavy traffic or at stoplights the Armada’s engine automatically turns off when the vehicle is stopped, saving fuel and reducing pollution. The engine is automatically restarted when the driver gets ready to move again. If the conditions warrant or the driver wishes, the system can be manually disabled at any time for the duration of a trip. The QX80 doesn’t offer an automatic engine start/stop system.

A nine-speed automatic is standard on the Nissan Armada, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a seven-speed automatic is available for the QX80.

The Armada offers an available driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads or off-road. The QX80’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

For greater off-road capability the Armada SV has a greater minimum ground clearance than the QX80 (9.6 vs. 9.2 inches), allowing the Armada to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The Armada SL’s minimum ground clearance is .7 inch higher than on the QX80 (9.9 vs. 9.2 inches).

The Armada has 8.6 cubic feet more passenger volume than the QX80 (161.1 vs. 152.5).

The Armada has 1.7 inches more front headroom, 4.2 inches more front legroom, .7 inches more front hip room, .4 inches more front shoulder room, 1.5 inches more rear hip room, .2 inches more rear shoulder room, 4.1 inches more third row legroom, 2.9 inches more third row hip room and 2.6 inches more third row shoulder room than the QX80.

The Armada’s cargo area provides more volume than the QX80.

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the Armada Platinum’s liftgate can be opened and closed just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The QX80 doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its liftgate, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

The Armada (except SV) offers an available heads-up display that projects speed, navigation instruction, incoming text message, infotainment and driver assistance information readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The QX80 doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

The Armada’s power parking brake sets with one touch and releases with one touch or automatically. The QX80’s parking brake has to be released manually.

The power windows standard on both the Armada and the QX80 have locks to prevent small children from operating them. When the lock on the Armada is engaged the driver can still operate all of the windows, for instance to close one opened by a child. The QX80 prevents the driver from operating the other windows just as it does the other passengers.

The Armada’s standard Infiniti Intelligent Key allow you to unlock the doors from any outside door handle, open the cargo door, and start the engine, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. Infiniti Intelligent Key standard on the QX80 doesn’t offer a sensor on the rear doors, so you’ll have to reach a front handle to unlock the rear door.

The Armada Platinum Reserve has standard massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the QX80.
