The Ariya Platinum+ has a standard front seat center airbag, which deploys between the driver and front passenger, protecting them from injuries caused by striking each other in serious side impacts. The Blazer EV doesn’t offer front seat center airbags.

Both the Ariya and the Blazer EV have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available around view monitors.

The Nissan Ariya achieved a “Top Safety Pick” rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for the 2024 model year. This recognition was based on its impressive performance in the small overlap frontal crash test, updated side impact crash test, headlight evaluations, and pedestrian crash prevention testing. The Blazer EV has not yet been evaluated by the IIHS for 2024.

The Ariya’s corrosion warranty is unlimited miles longer than the Blazer EV’s (unlimited vs. 100,000 miles).

Nissan pays for scheduled maintenance on the Ariya for 3 years and 36,000 miles. Nissan will pay for tire rotations, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Chevrolet only pays for the first scheduled maintenance visit on the Blazer EV.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2024 Auto Issue reports that Nissan vehicles are more reliable than Chevrolet vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Nissan 3 places higher in reliability than Chevrolet.

The Ariya Engage’s standard electric motors produces 47 more horsepower (335 vs. 288) and 80 lbs.-ft. more torque (413 vs. 333) than the Blazer EV’s electric motors. The Ariya Engage+/Evolve+/Platinum+’s standard electric motors produces 101 more horsepower (389 vs. 288) and 109 lbs.-ft. more torque (442 vs. 333) than the Blazer EV’s electric motors.

As tested in Motor Trend the Ariya Engage+/Evolve+/Platinum+ electric motors is faster than the Chevrolet Blazer EV:

The Ariya has a standard locking charge port which locks and unlocks with the power locks. The Blazer EV doesn’t have a locking charge port. A locking charge port prevents tampering and damage.

For better stopping power the Ariya + e-4ORCE’s front brake rotors are larger than those on the Blazer EV:

The Ariya’s standard front and rear disc brakes are vented to help dissipate heat for shorter stops with less fading. The rear discs on the Blazer EV are solid, not vented.

The Ariya’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 55 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Blazer EV LT’s standard 60 series tires.

The Ariya Platinum+ handles at .84 G’s, while the Blazer EV RS pulls only .80 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The Ariya Platinum+ executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 1.1 seconds quicker than the Blazer EV RS (26.3 seconds @ .71 average G’s vs. 27.4 seconds @ .63 average G’s).

For better maneuverability, the Ariya’s turning circle is 4.3 feet tighter than the Blazer EV’s (35.4 feet vs. 39.7 feet).

The Nissan Ariya may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 350 to 850 pounds less than the Chevrolet Blazer EV.

The Ariya is 9.3 inches shorter than the Blazer EV, making the Ariya easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Ariya Platinum+ uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The Blazer EV doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the Ariya’s rear seats recline. The Blazer EV’s rear seats don’t recline.

The Ariya has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the Blazer EV with its rear seat up (27.9 vs. 25.5 cubic feet). The Ariya has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Blazer EV with its rear seat folded (59.7 vs. 59.1 cubic feet).

A maintenance reminder system is standard on the Ariya to save the owner time and money by calculating maintenance intervals for tire rotation, based on odometer mileage. This takes the guesswork out of keeping your vehicle in top condition and helps it last longer. Chevrolet doesn’t offer a maintenance reminder on the Blazer EV.

Unlike the driver-only memory seat and mirrors in the Blazer EV RS, the Ariya Platinum+ has a passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position (with optional power wheel adjuster) and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The Ariya’s front and rear power windows all open or close with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The Blazer EV’s passenger windows don’t close automatically.

The Ariya’s standard speed-sensitive wipers speed up when the vehicle does, so that the driver doesn’t have to continually adjust the speed of the wipers. The Blazer EV’s standard manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.

The Ariya’s standard outside mirrors include heating elements to clear off the mirrors for better visibility. Chevrolet charges extra for heated mirrors on the Blazer EV.

The Nissan Ariya has power folding mirrors that offer unparalleled convenience while maneuvering in tight places or parked. With the mirrors folded it’s easier to walk past and help prevent parking damage. The mirrors can be quickly unfolded when the driver is ready to leave. Power folding mirrors costs extra on the Blazer EV.

The Ariya has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the Blazer EV.

The Ariya has a standard dual zone air conditioning allows the driver and front passenger to choose two completely different temperatures so people with different temperature preferences won’t have to compromise. This makes both the driver and front passenger as comfortable as possible. Dual zone air conditioning is only available on the Blazer EV RS.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Nissan Ariya has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Wireless charging costs extra on the Blazer EV.

The Ariya is available in both front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The Blazer EV doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.
