2026 Nissan Rogue
2025 Lexus UX

Safety

The Rogue Platinum has a standard front seat center airbag, which deploys between the driver and front passenger, protecting them from injuries caused by striking each other in serious side impacts. The UX doesn’t offer front seat center airbags.

The Rogue Rock Creek/Platinum has a standard Around View® Monitor to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The UX only offers a rear monitor and front and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the sides.

Both the Rogue and the UX have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front and rear side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, front wheel drive, height adjustable front shoulder belts, plastic fuel tanks, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available all wheel drive.

Warranty

There are over 4 times as many Nissan dealers as there are Lexus dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Rogue’s warranty.

Engine

The Rogue’s 1.5 turbo 3-cylinder produces 5 more horsepower (201 vs. 196) and 73 lbs.-ft. more torque (225 vs. 152) than the UX’s 2.0 DOHC 4-cylinder hybrid.

Fuel Economy and Range

Both the Rogue and UX have a standard automatic start/stop engine feature to stop unnecessary fuel waste and pollution at stoplights and heavy traffic. The Rogue has a standard disable switch for the system, so a driver can keep the engine from shutting off when the vehicle stops temporarily.

The Rogue has 3.9 gallons more fuel capacity than the UX (14.5 vs. 10.6 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

The Rogue has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The UX doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

Brakes and Stopping

The Rogue’s standard front and rear disc brakes are vented to help dissipate heat for shorter stops with less fading. The rear discs on the UX are solid, not vented.

The Rogue stops much shorter than the UX:

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the Rogue has larger tires than the UX (235/65R17 vs. 225/50R18).

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Rogue SL/Platinum/Dark Armor has standard 19-inch wheels. The UX’s largest wheels are only 18-inches.

The Rogue has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The UX doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

The Rogue has a standard space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the UX; it requires you to depend on its run-flat tires, which limits mileage and speed before they are repaired. If a run-flat is damaged beyond repair by a road hazard your vehicle will have to be towed.

Suspension and Handling

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Rogue’s wheelbase is 2.6 inches longer than on the UX (106.5 inches vs. 103.9 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Rogue is 1.5 inches wider in the front and 1.6 inches wider in the rear than on the UX.

The Rogue Platinum handles at .83 G’s, while the UX 300h F Sport Handling pulls only .79 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The Rogue Platinum executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver quicker than the UX AWD (27.7 seconds @ .6 average G’s vs. 28.1 seconds @ .62 average G’s).

For greater off-road capability the Rogue has a 1.9 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the UX (8.2 vs. 6.3 inches), allowing the Rogue to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

Passenger Space

The Rogue has 15 cubic feet more passenger volume than the UX (105.4 vs. 90.4).

The Rogue has 3.9 inches more front headroom, .3 inches more front hip room, 2.1 inches more front shoulder room, 2.9 inches more rear headroom, 5.4 inches more rear legroom, 1.1 inches more rear hip room and 3 inches more rear shoulder room than the UX.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the Rogue’s rear seats recline. The UX’s rear seats don’t recline.

Cargo Capacity

The Rogue has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the UX (36.5 vs. 17.1 cubic feet).

A control in the cargo area automatically lowers the Rogue Platinum’s rear seats, to make changing between passengers and cargo easier. The UX doesn’t offer automatic folding seats.

Towing

The Rogue has a 1500 lbs. towing capacity. The UX has no towing capacity.

Ergonomics

The power windows standard on both the Rogue and the UX have locks to prevent small children from operating them. When the lock on the Rogue is engaged the driver can still operate all of the windows, for instance to close one opened by a child. The UX prevents the driver from operating the other windows just as it does the other passengers.

The Rogue’s standard speed-sensitive wipers speed up when the vehicle does, so that the driver doesn’t have to continually adjust the speed of the wipers. The UX’s standard manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.

Consumer Reports rated the Rogue’s headlight performance “Very Good,” a higher rating than the UX’s headlights, which were rated “Good.”

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the Rogue to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The UX doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

Both the Rogue and the UX offer available heated front seats. The Rogue Platinum also offers optional heated rear seats to keep those passengers extremely comfortable in the winter. Heated rear seats aren’t available in the UX.

Recommendations

Consumer Reports® recommends both the Nissan Rogue and the Lexus UX, based on reliability, safety and performance.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the Rogue first among compact SUVs in owner reported satisfaction. This includes how well the vehicle performs and satisfies its owner’s expectations. The UX isn’t in the top three in its category.

The Nissan Rogue outsold the Lexus UX by almost 28 to one during 2024.
